The fence.

April 2, 2009

Yesterday was Day 2 of Brian and Will’s fencing adventure! Basically, they’re renovating the entire backyard. They rented a bobcat, which Ruby had a ball “driving,” to push the gravel driveway back. They’ve already releveled and regraveled what is left of the driveway, and planted grass seed where the old gravel was. They chainsawed down a strangled white pine. Will brought Bri tons of rocks from the farm, which he used to border all of the new mulch he put down. We’ve got an eye on our nasturtium and swiss chard seedlings, and today Ruby and I are going to plant some giant sunflower seeds, which we’ll eventually use in front of one fence wall. The biggest deal of all, however, is our privacy fence! By Saturday morning it should be completely finished, and I’ll be able to sit on the deck and watch Ruby and Vi run around…completely contained! WAHOO!

Here are a few pics of the process. Ruby and I had a blast watching. She sat on the bench and ate, and I knitted. Sometimes it’s so nice to be a girl!
